Hey Sharyl! At my last job, our parent company was based in Texas and I 100% agree – they really struggled to understand how vacation accruals work up here north of the border 😅
One thing to consider as you’re looking at time and attendance solutions is (a) how customizable your calculations are and (b) how tight the integration with your payroll software is. If you end up with a solution that you can customize vacation hours and dollars to your heart’s content, but it doesn’t integrate nicely with your payroll software, it won’t matter. Payroll should definitely be the system of record, so looking for a natively integrated pay and time solution will save you a lot of pain in the long run.
