Similar to many other payroll professionals, I fell into the role when I accepted a position that was 1/2 payroll and 1/2 accounts payable. Shortly thereafter, I joined the NPI (Canadian Payroll Association at that time) to advance my education in Payroll. I have continued to keep it a part of my wheelhouse even after moving into Human Resources.
